We are a family of four sharing our experiences on our vacations. We are Filipino Americans determined to get out of the everyday monotony of working and regular routines, by exploring the world as much as possible. We have our day jobs along with raising our two boys which can make life feel like is it just passing us by. Our vacations and trips helps us reconnect with each other along with the environment we choose as our destination.
I’ve been working in corporate America since I been out of college and continued to climb the corporate ladder. This can really take a toll on your mind and body. Traveling has been my therapy to balance my overall well-being. Exploring a new destination and getting immersed in the environment can really help put things in perspective. Traveling can show us how insignificant our problems really are and how there is more to life than just working to survive. I traveled frequently since I was young but weirdly enough I developed a fear of flying in my twenties. I still get anxious when going on a plane but the excitement of exploration far outweighs the fear.
My wife is a medical technologist in a level 1 trauma hospital. During the pandemic, we made the joint decision for her to become part time at work. Our family thrives off daily routine and sometimes it can get the best of us. Traveling reminds us to reconnect as a family, away from the devices and work.
We have two boys, two and seven years old, at the time of writing this. They have a sizable age gap, we call this the college payment gap years. Their age gaps along with several food allergies makes it challenging to go on trips. A challenge we continue to tackle so they can also explore what the world has to offer. Our seven year old is allergic to eggs, and nuts, while our two year old has it worse. He is allergic to eggs, dairy, soy, wheat, nuts and shrimp. While these allergies did prevent us from traveling earlier on, we have come to learn that the experiences our kids have in these new places far out weight our fears of a bad reaction. We are more conscious on what we give to our kids to stray from any allergic reaction while on vacation.
We hope that our readers can get something out of reading our posts and encourage you to go out there and explore. It doesn’t have to be an international, or extravagant vacation, it can be things around your local area or state. As long as you get out there to see what the world has to offer! Happy and safe travels!!
